Time. Everyone wants the same three weeks. If peak periods are not allocated by an agreed method — rotation, draw, or a fixed pattern — the group ends up negotiating the same argument every spring.
Money. Insurance, tax and loan payments arrive whether anyone visits or not. Electricity and consumables scale with use. Treating them the same way is what makes cost splitting feel unfair.
Work. There is almost always one person who books the plumber, buys the paint and reminds everyone to transfer money. When that role is invisible, it slowly turns into resentment.
